Find the spirit of Christmas in the beautiful and historic Gold Rush Town of Sutter Creek.
The Annual Christmas Open House celebration on Friday and Saturday, is the place to be to spark the holiday spirit with the simple beauty of Christmas and small town charm.
Sutter Creek’s perfect blend of contemporary boutiques, wine tasting rooms and restaurants will be open late to welcome you in for holiday cheer. The streets come alive with Christmas spirit, transformed to an era gone by with Father Christmas, Charles Dickens characters and carolers in period costume, strolling along this magical Gold Rush Town. Free carraige rides will be offered in front of the Visitor Center, 71a Main Street.
Las Posadas is a candlelight walk reenacting Joseph and Mary’s journey to Bethlehem. Beginning at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Spanish Street, the walk proceeds down Spanish Street, lined with flickering luminaries, to Main Street. Narrators will retell the familiar story and musicians lead in singing familiar Christmas carols. Dress warmly so you can enjoy the entire evening! Following Las Posadas, there will be hot beverages and cookies available at the social hall of the Methodist Church.
