Explore the Kennedy Gold Mine Headframe, First and Second Levels!
For the first time, the Kennedy Mine is offering a one-time, space limited tour of the newly restored second level platform of the Kennedy Mine Headframe – one of the tallest in existence. The second platform is 83 steep steps above the ground and offers a unique glimpse into the historic mine operations and panoramic views of the area. Your expert tour guide will describe how 1.7 million ounces of gold were dug from one of the deepest mines in North America, and how the Kennedy Mine Foundation is restoring this Amador County icon. (Sorry, the higher levels of the headframe are under construction and not safe for tours).
Tickets are $50/person and limited to the first 20 reservations. The headframe structure includes steep steps and open railings. Must be at least 16 years of age. Waiver and release required. Closed-toe shoes required, women are advised to wear slacks or shorts. Reservations by phone/email or in person at the mine: 209-223-9542 or manager@kennedygoldmine.com.
